| The Rockford Chapter of the American Guild of Organists was formed in 1958 to promote the organ in its historic and evolving roles, to encourage excellence in the performance of organ and choral music, and to provide a forum for mutual support, inspiration, education, and certification of Guild members. Membership in the Guild is open not only to church organists and church musicians, but also to all who love organ music. The Guild sponsors recitals by distinguished nationally known organists; the annual Fall Pipe Spectacular which features a program by chapter members, some of the finest organists in the Rockford area; educational programs to support and enrich the skills of church musicians and organists in the Greater Rockford area; the annual Youth Choir Festival in February, presented by well-known clinicians of childrens choral literature and open to all church and community childrens choirs childrens choirs in the Greater Rockford area; and a Spring Pipe Organ Walk featuring four of Rockfords finest pipe organs, located in the Rockford River District. |
