Mayor's Arts Awards 2008
June 5, 2008
Coronado Theatre
The arts are one of Rockford's greatest assets! From the reopening of the Coronado Theatre to the growing audiences for cultural events, we can all be proud of the fact that Rockford is a great arts community.
To give artists and arts advocates the recognition they deserve, the City of Rockford and the Rockford Area Arts Council in 1989 created the Mayor's Arts Awards. We now recognize excellence in six categories: Individual Artist, Individual Arts Advocate, Corporation, Exceptional Student of the Arts, Star Teacher, and Creative Cultural Event. These awards honor individuals and organizations which have made significant contributions to the arts and whose contributions have resulted in a major and positive impact on the community.
The recipients receive original works of art created by local artists at the Mayor's Arts Awards ceremony held annually in June.
Consider giving an individual or organization much deserved arts recognition - submit a nomination for a 2008 Rockford Area Arts Council Mayor's Arts Award. Nominations are due to the Arts Council no later than April 14, 2008. Nominate now! Nomination forms are available at the Rockford Area Arts Council, 713 E. State Street, Rockford, IL 61104. You can download a form at: www.artsforeveryone.com Fax: 815-963-8958, or Email: a.naber@artsforeveryone.com. |
