Artist Profile

Nia Haven

Nia Haven is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans drawing, collage, mixed media, illustration, and painting. Their creative practice embraces experimentation, combining materials and techniques to create richly layered and expressive artwork.

Drawing remains the foundation of their work, using pencil alongside pens, markers, Sharpies, stencils, and reference imagery. Techniques such as pointillism and cross-hatching add depth, texture, and detail to their compositions. In collage and mixed media pieces, Nia incorporates a wide range of materials—including magazine clippings, found objects, tissue paper, India ink, acrylic paint, and spray paint—to build dynamic visual narratives.

As an illustrator, Nia works both traditionally and digitally, creating artwork by hand and in Procreate. While acrylic painting is a primary medium, they also enjoy exploring watercolor, India ink, spray paint, and other materials to achieve unique effects.

Rather than limiting their work to a single medium, Nia enjoys blending diverse materials and processes, allowing each piece to develop its own visual language. Although they work across many disciplines, their strongest artistic foundation comes from a lifelong practice of drawing with pencil and pen.

My art quote from me would be: "Don't worry about the outcome, or if you're doing it right, or even what time it is; just let yourself get lost in the moment." My favorite quote though is: "To thine own-self, be true;"
