Jefferson – Horton American Legion Post 340

Jefferson-Horton American Legion Post 340 is a historic and evolving community hub located in Rockford’s Heritage District. Established in 1939, the Post is a veteran service organization dedicated to supporting veterans, their families, and the broader community through advocacy, programming, and service.

The facility includes a traditional social room canteen, offering a welcoming space where veterans and guests gather for fellowship, connection, and community-building. This environment reflects the Post’s long-standing role as both a place of support and a center of camaraderie.

Today, through its Project Restore and Reimagine America 250 Legacy Initiative, Post 340 is actively transforming into a space where history, art, and community intersect. The venue features a blend of traditional character and ongoing revitalization efforts, including plans for exterior mural restoration, commemorative installations, and enhanced interior programming space.

As an Artscene location, Post 340 offers a unique and meaningful backdrop for artistic expression, highlighting veteran stories, cultural heritage, and community resilience. The space is well suited for visual art displays, live demonstrations, and community engagement, with both indoor and outdoor areas available for activation.

Visitors can expect an atmosphere that is welcoming, reflective, and rooted in service, where art becomes a bridge between generations, cultures, and experiences.
