Hear/Here: An Exhibit of Art & Poetry in Community
Special Exhibit Hours : Friday 5pm-7:30pm and Saturday 4pm -7:30pm.
Coordinated in conjunction with RPL and the RPL Foundation and curated by Rockford’s Poet Laureate Adam al-Sirgany, Hear/Here explores the theme of ‘ekphrasis’ – a term describing works of art inspired by other works of art. Local poets were invited to write original poems inspired by public art pieces (murals, sculptures, etc.) in Rockford. In turn, visual artists were invited to create new pieces based on those poems. The resulting show is an artistic daisy-chain, creating real connection and conversation between individuals in our arts community who may not ordinarily have opportunities to collaborate.
Cash bar and live music will be provided as well.
