SPARK!
SPARK! Is the Rockford Area Arts Council’s summer program incubator that was developed due to COVID-related restrictions that limited outreach for their former summer art apprenticeship program, ArtsPlace. SPARK! Is a new approach to an intensive, hands-on, skill-building, apprenticeship program that provides youths, who demonstrate an interest in the arts, an opportunity to work closely with local artists in a variety of mediums.
The primary focus of SPARK! Is community building and positive social connection through the arts. This year’s projects reflect the idea of using art to give back to the community and beautify public spaces with mosaic-tile sculptures and the design and construction of Community Treasure Boxes.
